AHEAD Conference Seattle 2011

Last week I attended the AHEAD national conference in Seattle.  I love this conference as I have many friends and colleagues that I get to reconnect with, but also for the wonderful content and learning opportunities it provides. I attend two great sessions on captioning and transcription. There was a third session to tie it all together but was unable to attend due to my new appointment on the Board of Directors.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Margaret Bartlett of the infamous disability lawsuit of Bartlett vs. NY Bar Exam.  Her case open the doors for so many with disabilities with standardized testing and higher education.

Elected!

This week's BU newsletter, The Insider, had an article about my recent election victory!  I am so excited about this opportunity as it has been a long term goal since joining the organization in 2004.

Half way there

Already week 4 of class... We are half way there!

I have always been a technology junkie and am known at my current position as the "go to person".  Yet, after 4 weeks into this class I have learned about so many new great tools.  I think I am most excited about is the tool called noterr.com.  This sticky note application is awesome and will save so many trees since I am a highly structured person, always making lists. I even make lists of my lists.

I have used skype for many years to talk to friends all over the world. And if I wasn't using skype, then in was msn messenger, aim, yahoo chat.  All of those web conferencing tools have been so handy and help with phone bills!  I look forward to learning a bit more about twitter from what I already know.

Curriculum Project - Baby Sign Language

I have enjoyed creating my curriculum project.  I know it is definitely something that I will use with my daughter in the next several years and if we have ever have any more children.  There are so many great free resources available that one technically doesn't have to purchase items to teach this language to their child. I have purchased the Baby Signing Times series for my daughter, and do enjoy the content. The songs are way catching as my husband and I often find ourselves singing them throughout the day.
